You Don’t Look Sick — What People Don’t See

You Don’t Look Sick — What People Don’t See

“You don’t look sick.”

It’s something I’ve heard more times than I can count.

And I understand why people say it…
Because from the outside, I probably look okay.

But what people don’t see is what’s happening underneath it all.

Some days, my body feels so heavy it’s hard to even move.

Everything aches — joints, muscles… even just existing feels uncomfortable.

There are days where my energy disappears completely.
Not just tired… but exhausted in a way that sleep doesn’t fix.

And then there’s the mental side of it.
The brain fog. The overwhelm.
The feeling like everything is just too much.

From the outside, it might look like I’m just having a normal day.

But inside… it can feel like I’m pushing through something invisible
that never really switches off.

That’s one of the hardest parts about living with chronic illness.

It’s not always seen.
It’s not always understood.

And sometimes… it makes you question yourself:

“Am I just being lazy?”
“Should I be doing more?”

Even when your body is clearly telling you otherwise.

Over time, I’ve had to learn something really important:

👉 Just because it’s invisible, doesn’t mean it’s not real.
👉 And just because others can’t see it, doesn’t mean you have to push yourself beyond your limits.

On the harder days, I try to keep things as simple as possible.

Slowing down.
Doing what I can.
Letting go of what I can’t.

And most importantly — not feeling guilty for it.

Some days, the most important thing isn’t doing more…

It’s listening to your body.
Letting yourself rest.
Giving yourself permission to slow down.

Because living with something people can’t see…
is exhausting in ways that are hard to explain.

If you’re going through this too, I just want you to know:

🤍 You’re not lazy.
🤍 You’re not making it up.
🤍 And you’re definitely not alone.

Some days aren’t about doing more.

They’re about getting through — gently.

And that’s enough.

If you’re needing a gentle way to track your days, reflect, or just keep everything in one place…
