Sometimes a New Beginning Arrives When You Least Expect It

Sometimes a new beginning arrives when you least expect it.
No big plan. No carefully mapped-out next step. Sometimes something simply appears in front of you and you get this feeling that maybe — just maybe — you’re supposed to see where it leads.
Recently, I’d been wondering what was next for me.
I love building Mind Ripple. I love watching it grow and creating something that means so much to me. But I’d also been thinking about what else might be possible and what the next chapter of my life could look like.
I didn’t have an answer.
So, somewhere amongst all those thoughts, I asked for a sign.
Nothing dramatic. No flashing neon lights required. 😂 Just something that might point me in the right direction.
And then I opened Facebook.
There it was. A friend had posted about a job.
I hadn’t gone onto Facebook looking for work. I wasn’t scrolling through job sites or expecting an opportunity to suddenly appear. But there it was, and something about it immediately caught my attention.
It felt like the first sign I’d been asking for.
So I trusted that feeling and applied.
When Excitement and Nerves Arrive Together
There’s always a little uncertainty when you step into something new.
And living with chronic illness can add another layer to that. I know my body. I know there are things it can handle and things it can’t, and I’ve had to learn to listen to what it’s telling me.
But I’m also learning that sometimes being nervous doesn’t mean something is wrong. Sometimes it simply means this matters to me.
When the time came to go and meet about the position, I was nervous. My heart rate was up. My body had definitely received the memo that we were doing something new that morning.
But underneath those nerves, I was excited too. Something about this opportunity still felt right.
And then Bon Jovi got involved.
Apparently I Needed Another Sign 😂
I got into my car, turned on the radio and started flicking through the stations.
And then Bon Jovi’s It’s My Life came on.
Not from the beginning. I landed on it right at:
“It’s my life, it’s now or never.”
I mean… come on. 😂
I’d asked for a sign. Then I’d unexpectedly come across a friend’s post about this opportunity on Facebook. I’d had a gut feeling that I should apply.
And now I was sitting in my car, on my way to take this step forward, and those were the words coming through my speakers.
Maybe it was coincidence. But in that moment, it certainly didn’t feel like one.
I had this overwhelming gut feeling that this was the right decision. This was for me.
So I trusted it.
I went.
The nerves settled. My heart stopped trying to announce my arrival before I did. And what had felt a little scary beforehand quickly became exciting.
Before I knew it, I’d been offered the job.
And that gut feeling I’d had from the moment I saw that Facebook post?
It had been right.
Sometimes the Pieces Just Fit
I think that’s what I’ve taken from this experience more than anything.
We can spend so much time waiting until we’re completely certain. Waiting until we’re not nervous. Waiting until we know exactly how something will work.
But sometimes we simply can’t know everything before we begin.
When you live with chronic illness, knowing your own body has to be part of those decisions. Our limits are real, and respecting them matters.
But respecting my body doesn’t mean I have to stop moving forward.
For me, this opportunity felt right. It felt like something that could become a really positive part of my life while still allowing me to continue building and growing Mind Ripple alongside it.
And rather than feeling like I have to choose one path or the other, it feels like the pieces are starting to fit together.
That’s exciting.
I don’t need to have every step mapped out to know that I’m happy with the direction I’m heading.
I can take this step. Then the next. And enjoy what I’m building along the way.
Trusting That Little Feeling
Maybe you’ve had one of those moments too.
Something appears that you weren’t expecting. An opportunity. An idea. A conversation. A change.
And there’s just that little feeling inside you saying:
Pay attention to this.
It doesn’t mean throwing caution out the window. And when you live with chronic illness, trusting yourself also means knowing your own body. Sometimes your instincts will tell you something isn’t right for you — and listening to that matters too.
But sometimes the thing that feels scary isn’t wrong.
It’s just new.
And maybe we don’t always need everything mapped out before we begin. Sometimes we can trust ourselves enough to take that first step.
That’s what I’m doing now.
I’m stepping into something new that I’m genuinely excited about. I’m continuing to build Mind Ripple, something I love and believe in.
And somehow, instead of those two things pulling me in different directions, they feel like they can sit alongside each other as part of this next chapter.
All because one day I asked for a sign… and then opened Facebook.
And apparently Bon Jovi decided I needed a second one just to make sure I got the message.
Sometimes a new beginning arrives when you least expect it.
And sometimes that unexpected beginning turns out to be exactly what you were ready for.
Have you ever had a moment where something happened at exactly the right time and you just had a feeling you needed to trust it? I’d love to hear about it in the comments. 🤍
